Lions And Tigers And Bears, Oh My!
Thylea is a word filled with all manner of creatures from the noble ox through the rampaging kraken. In here you will find the creatures encountered by our heroes.
Automatons
Automatons are either animated objects or any type of artificially constructed creatures. Most automatons are non-intelligent with neither a soul nor a purpose beyond service to their creator. Because few automatons are truly alive, usually operated only by a “spark” of life, most are immune to attacks that target the living.
On Thylea automatons typically the form of either an animated statue, or a mechanical construct made from metal, the latter of which Volkan, God of the Forge is best known for making.
Constructs
A beast was any creature that behaved in a manner similar to that expected of common animals dwelling in Thylea. However, while animals were generally beasts, many beasts were not animals and could have highly abnormal origins or features.
Elementals
Elementals are the purest living forms of the four basic elements—air, earth, fire, and water—as well as several other, less common elements. They are intelligent, self-aware entities that are made up of the matter of their home plane. They can be summoned to any plane of existence, except the plane of concordance to their element. For example, summoning a fire elemental to the Elemental Plane of Water took more magical power than mortals can conceivably wield.

Elementals are considered intelligent, yet they see service typically as bound servants or guardians. This binding grates on elementals, as they are only summoned for a singular purpose. Once that purpose has been fulfilled, they are free to return to their home plane. In some cases, this bondage can span centuries, if not millennia.

Summoning and binding an elemental in this way requires much in the way of personal power. An elemental that senses binding in this manner will fight the caster mentally. If the caster loses this battle of wills, the elemental is free to wreak havoc on the plane it was summoned to. In most cases, the elemental will slay the caster and return to its home plane.

The four main elemental types are fire, water, earth and air. Species tied to a certain element are much more likely to summon an elemental of that same element. Salamanders are known to have the ability to request service from fire elementals. The efreeti are also known to have these agreements.
Familiars & Animal Companions
These companions are often nearest and dearest to our heroes' hearts.
Fey
These creatures are considered native to Thylea and often have ties to nature.
Humanoids
Humanoid is a general term for the enormous variety of sentient species that make up the world's primary inhabitants, both savage and civilized. They are capable of language, culture, and in many cases of learning magic.
Mythic Beasts
Mythic beasts are animals that carry a divine spark. These celestial creatures are neither good nor evil and while they are not unique, mortals rarely catch a glimpse of even one mythic beast in their lifetimes. The elusive beasts make their homes in the great forests and plains of both the fey and mortal realms. They are highly intelligent creatures that have the ability to speak. There are four mythic beasts spoken of in legends: the golden lion, the white stag, the great boar, and the golden ram.
